Introducing the Billion Dollar Movie Car Club<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

From the time-hopping Delorean in Back to the Future to the turbo\n charged speedsters of the Fast and the Furious franchise cars have been\n stars in Hollywood for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But while we could all name our favourite car movie how many of us \nreally have a clue which cars have generated the most dosh when it comes\n to cold hard cash at the Box Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here at LeaseCar.uk we decided to grab the steering wheel firmly with\n both hands and put the pedal to the metal to find out once and for all \nwhich cars have been Hollywood\u2019s biggest box office stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After some painstaking research, and many hours of watching movies \narmed with a stop watch, we can now reveal our findings and name the \nworld\u2019s biggest car movie stars for the very first time ever, anywhere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we found may surprise you. It emerged that just nine cars can \nclaim membership of an exclusive club, the Billion Dollar Movie Car \nClub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are the motors that played a significant role in a \nbillion-dollar movie or billion dollar franchise. To qualify the cars \nhad to be a part of the action – being in the background in a traffic \nscene was never going to cut it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our findings shocked even us. Who would have predicted that old Jeep \nfrom Jurassic Park was the biggest box office car ever? We didn\u2019t see it\n coming. Jurassic Park is one of the highest earning franchises grossing\n well over $4b and the Jeep plays a significant part in the movie with \nmore screen time than any other single vehicle we studied. In the first \nJurassic Park movie (which took over a billion on its own) the Jeep was \non screen for almost a fifth of the movie – meaning we credited it with \n$200m in box office takings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other surprising members of the club include the 1912 Renault Type CB\n Coupe from Titanic. This lovely vintage car played a significant part \nin the movie, as Rose (Kate Winslet) stepped out of it to make her grand\n entrance. It was also the scene of a rather steamy tryst between Rose \nand Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio). We didn\u2019t expect it to make the Billion \nDollar Movie Car Club because it isn\u2019t part of a wider franchise but the\n one movie alone was a huge smash with Box Office takings of more than \n$2billion so we couldn\u2019t ignore it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is your favourite movie car on our list? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While all the movies and franchises on the list are smash hits in the\n Billion Dollar Movie Car Club, some out shine the others. Here\u2019s how \nthe franchises stack up against each other:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Harry Potter franchise – $8.5 billion at the box office<\/strong>
    First\n through the doors at the billion-dollar box office club are the \nstudents of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry, Ron and \nHermione managed an eye watering $8.5 billion at the box office over the\n course of eight films, making them the best of the best. The flying \nFord Anglia represents the franchise on our list. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. James Bond franchise \u2013 $7.7 billion at the box office<\/strong>
    Slick\n suits and his irresistible charm were not enough to get 007 top spot. \nHowever, over 25 films and 56 years James Bond has more than deserved \nhis membership to the Billion Dollar Movie Car Club. With the highest \ngrossing movie, Skyfall, making over a billion alone at the box office \nMi6 won\u2019t be recalling this agent for some time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Star Wars franchise \u2013 $7.5 billion at the box office<\/strong>
    The\n intergalactic epic has secured their membership to the club with $7.5 \nbillion made from over 10 movies (and counting). With ever growing \ndemand for video game spin offs, toys and merchandise it can safely be \nsaid that the force is strong with this one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Fast and the Furious franchise \u2013 $5.1 billion at the box office<\/strong>
    Expensive\n cars, explosions and The Rock fist fighting Vin Diesel. It really \ndoesn\u2019t get more macho than the Fast franchise. The super car driving, \nbeer drinking, bank heisting crew of Dominic Toretto have pulled in over\n $5 billion at the box office over years, more than deserving of their \nplace in this elite association. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Transformers Franchise – $4.3 billion at the box office<\/strong>
    The\n Autobots and Decepticons are the next members with Michael Bay\u2019s epic \nfranchise about morphing motorcars getting a hefty $4.3 billion. We \nfocused on Bumblebee for our research – a Chevy Camaro. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Jurassic Park Franchise \u2013 $4.1 billion at the box office<\/strong>
    While\n prehistoric in setting, there\u2019s nothing behind the times about Jurassic\n Park\u2019s box office numbers. The recently rebooted franchise has managed a\n staggering $4 billion since the Park\u2019s inception back in 1993. Good job\n the Billion Dollar Movie Car Club is T \u2013 Rex friendly.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
