{"id":67,"date":"2019-04-09T13:44:35","date_gmt":"2019-04-09T12:44:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leasecar.uk\/blog\/?p=67"},"modified":"2024-09-17T12:45:28","modified_gmt":"2024-09-17T11:45:28","slug":"racing-cars-reimagined","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leasecar.uk\/blog\/racing-cars-reimagined\/","title":{"rendered":"Racing Cars Reimagined"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Driverless cars have been in the\n news in the past, particularly Google\u2019s self-driving car back in 2014. \nWe\u2019ve even seen changes in what our standard cars can do too, including \nparking themselves and braking if they sense the risk of a collision. If\n a collision does occur, the car can \u2018call\u2019 the police for us, alerting \nthem of the location of the crash and also unique data about the \nvehicle, such as its unique VIN number. Our cars are getting smarter, \nand creating less risk of human error. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\n standard car has lots of accessories and gadgets that are required for a\n person to drive and control it. These include seating, a radio, a \ndashboard, dials, a steering wheel, and pedals. But, these things are \nall reliant on a person being present to control them. An autonomous \ncar, therefore, doesn\u2019t necessarily need them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Racing\n cars are clearly very different to standard road cars. In fact, most \nracing cars aren\u2019t road legal because they don\u2019t have standard features \nsuch as headlights or indicators. They forgo any extras to make the car \nas light and fast for the purpose of racing. Race car drivers definitely\n don\u2019t need a radio to listen to; they wouldn\u2019t even hear it over the \nnoise of the engine. However, most people would be disappointed if their\n car didn\u2019t come with a sound system to keep them entertained on their \njourney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\n tyres are different to those in a standard car because of the speed and\n heat the car can go up to. The tyres on a racing car aren\u2019t made for \nstandard driving as they need to be brought up to a working temperature \nto drive efficiently. This would mean driving at speeds of 100mph and \nbraking suddenly to ensure the tyres and brakes are working as they \nshould. This would be dangerous on typical UK roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\n means that a self-driving road car would be extremely different to a \nself-driving racing car. But, autonomous racing cars would change the \nworld of competitive driving forever. It would take out the risk of \nhuman error, and the focus would be on the cars rather than the skill of\n the drivers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This takes us back to our original question: what would such vehicles look like? Luckily, we\u2019ve got the answer for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\n have designed 6 racing cars that have been reimagined as driverless. \nEach one has been made more aerodynamic, due to there being no need for a\n driver. They don\u2019t have windscreens or headlights. The designs of the \ncars have all been inspired by some of the biggest brands in sports\u2019 car\n history.
