Yesterday the Government announced that it is making an immediate change to the Plug-in Car Grant (PICG), the Plug-in Van Grant (PIVG) and the Plug in Truck Grant (PITrG) rates and eligibility criteria.
The legislation now excludes many EV car models that were previously included, and the grant has been reduced from £3000 to £2500 for the cars it now covers.
The Government has stated this is to ‘re-focus the grants to the more affordable zero emission vehicles.’
A UK vehicle leasing company has released a new list of cars that are now eligible for the Plug-In Grant following the changes.
Tim Alcock, Head of Online Marketing at LeaseCar.uk and LeaseVan.co.uk said: “We’re disappointed to see the grant threshold changing as consumers were just beginning to build confidence in and for electric vehicles.
“The majority of electric cars are now ineligible, meaning consumers are more likely to lease petrol and diesel.”
