DS Automobiles is a premium brand with roots in France back in 2009. It was originally part of Citroen before breaking away in 2015 (2012 in China). Living up to their reputation as a trailblazer, back in 2018 DS announced that they would only launch hybrid or electric cars from 2025. So, hats off to the brand for its forward-thinking plans to help the environment. DS is an abbreviation of ‘Different Spirit’ or ‘Distinctive Series’, you can choose either. Both give a nod to their way of thinking outside of the box and striving to be a bit different from other car manufacturers in this sector.
DS currently offer a range of five cars at the time of publishing this information, but that number is set to rise to six very soon. And they’re unlikely to stop there. DS is one of the newest brands to take on the UK and they have big ambitions, to say the least.
There’s the DS3, a small hatchback that rivals cars such as the Mini and Audi A1 but benefits from more interior space and exterior presence. The DS3 Cabrio is a top-down version ideal for nipping around town or down the coastline with the wind in your hair.
The DS4 is in the same class as the Audi A3 or BMW 1 Series, its focus is style and it’s got the looks to mark it out from the crowd. The DS4 is a hatchback and there’s also a DS4 Crossback that leans more towards the SUV genre. It features a higher driving position and softer suspension.
Moving to the DS5, a hatchback. This car has unusual looks and is built to rival the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C Class. If you’re looking to lease a car in this class, don’t walk past the DS5 without a long second look.
The DS7 is a mid-sized SUV, competing with the Jaguar E-Pace or the Volvo XC40. It’s the largest car that DS offers at the moment.
Every model in the range comes with a variety of engine choices and trim levels.
With a newer brand like DS, it’s important to understand exactly which model will suit your needs. We have DS experts that can help you decide on a car that will match your driving style and typical usage. Our team are also in the position to offer the best lease deal on the market.
