Why lease a BMW

A quick history of BMW

Before we start to give you information about the current BMW models available to lease, we thought we'd give you a quick introduction to BMW as a manufacturer.

If you have any prior knowledge of the automotive industry, you'll be aware of BMW already - they are one of the biggest and most renowned car manufacturers in the world with a reputation for pioneering technology and design excellence over many decades.

The earliest iteration of the BMW company was mostly associated with the manufacture of aeroplanes, and then later motorcycles, before turning to cars, vans, and other 4-wheel vehicles.

BMW is noted as the first manufacturer to produce large sedans, which is a category where they are still an industry leader to this day.

In the modern day, BMW is largely seen as one of the premium manufacturers in almost every car category on the market, offering drivers top-of-the-range features and durable automotive build which combine to create a driving experience that's loved worldwide.

In this guide, we'll take a look at all of the currently available BMW models and give you all the information you need to find the right BMW lease deal for your needs and budget, so carry on exploring our guide below!

What are the most popular models in the BMW range?

As we've mentioned, the current range of automobiles available from BMW is huge - they've got vehicles in every category of car imaginable, ranging from some of the smallest cars on the market to some seriously colossal vehicles.

But don't be fooled by the sheer number of different cars that they're manufacturing - BMW's trademark levels of high quality can be found in every single car that hits the roads, so you can be sure you're getting a premium car that you're sure to love.

If you're struggling to pick the right BMW for your specific needs, don't worry - we've put together a comprehensive round-up of all of BMW's current options, making it easy for you to identify the cars that tick your boxes and fit within your budget.

And if you’re not sure which type of car is the best fit for you, check out the tips on our complete guide to car leasing!

Here are all of the BMW models that are currently available to lease with LeaseCar:

1 Series Hatchback

BMW describes the 1 Series Hatchback as a car that's redefining the compact car class and given the power, convenience, and performance that it offers, it's hard to disagree.

Everything about the BMW 1 Series has a truly premium and high-end feel.

It's a far cry from the cheap plastic dashboards and clunky onboard entertainment systems that you find in other cars - the 1 Series feels slick, sophisticated, and spacious despite the compact build.

If you're looking for a car that offers the perfect modern driving experience at an affordable price, BMW 1 Series lease deals could be the ideal option for you.

2 Series Coupe

With the 2 Series Coupe, BMW has gifted drivers with a stunning 3-door premium compact car that's packed to the brim with redesigned technology and driver assistance features, combining driving performance and modern elegance effortlessly.

Thanks to the rear-wheel drive design, the BMW 2 Series Coupe feels distinctively sporty when you're behind the wheel and this feeling is only amplified once you factor in the variable sport steering with Servotronic, which reduces steering effort for a more agile and responsive experience.

You can check out our range of BMW 2 Series lease deals by clicking right here!

2 Series Hatchback

First launched in 2014, the BMW 2 Series Hatchback, also known as the 2 Series Active Tourer, is one of our favourite vehicles in the hatchback class.

The 2 Series Hatchback is noticeably bigger than the more compact 1 Series, which gives it the scope to offer more power, more features, and more comfort, too.

The 2 Series hatchback has since had a bit of a redesign, which came in 2018, giving the latest models a more striking appearance and even lower emissions than before.

2 Series Saloon

If you're looking for a car that feels a little more bashful and unapologetic, the 2 Series Saloon is one of the best on the market.

Released in 2014, the Saloon version of the 2 Series, officially named the 2 Series Gran Coupe, looks great and is a thrill to drive.

Everything about the Gran Coupe feels a little bit slicker and sleeker, all contributing to enhanced performance - there's a mesh grille, frameless doors, and a sloping roof, all of which add performance benefits whilst giving a sportier appearance to the car.

Inside the cabin, you can opt to have the 2 Series Saloon fitted with the digital BMW Live Cockpit Professional package, which adds two 10.25" screens and a more in-depth HUD that displays all of the vital performance information.

3 Series Saloon

The 3 Series is an automotive marvel - it combines technology, performance, and aesthetics perfectly, producing one of the most excellent cars in the world today.

One thing is clear with the 3 Series Saloon: it's built with the driver at the forefront of every decision.

One of the most striking features of the 3 Series Saloon is the BMW Curved Display, which sits at the heart of the dashboard and acts as the control centre for most of the car's functions.

With an array of intuitive widgets for enhanced convenience, the screen is angled towards the driver for easy access and safe use whilst driving.

If you'd like to learn more about the BMW 3 Series Saloon and our best BMW lease deals, get in touch with us today!

3 Series Estate

The 3 Series Estate feels very similar to the Saloon in many ways - the top-class infotainment system remains, as do many of the other technological features such as the reversing assistant, which aids drivers in reversing the vehicle without the danger of unexpected bumps or scrapes.

The main difference between the 3 Series Saloon and the 3 Series Estate is the space in the rear of the cabin and the boot space.

Whilst the Saloon is sleeker and more aerodynamic, the Estate prioritises space and comfort, offering you a huge amount of space that makes the weekly shopping trip or packing for a domestic holiday easier than ever.

4 Series Coupe

With the 4 Series, BMW sought to create a car that's edgy, provocative, and completely unmistakable.

And that's exactly what this car is.

The BMW 4 series coupe is as distinctive in its appearance as it is in its performance - it's an expressive vehicle that any motoring enthusiast will adore.

As the winner of the 'Best Coupe' award at the 2022 WhatCar? 2022 Car of the Year Awards, it's safe to say that this is the class-defining car of the moment.

The BMW 4 Series Coupe offers drivers sporty roadholding and surprising agility coupled with optimum handling for a driving experience that feels fun, exhilarating, yet controlled.

4 Series Convertible

If you like the sound of the 4 Series but you're looking for something that makes an even bolder statement, the convertible version might be the car for you.

In the 4 Series Convertible, everything feels the same - you're greeted by the same high-tech features including Driving Assistant Professional, Smartphone integration, Remote Software Upgrade, and Parking Assist.

Again, the 4 Series Convertible has excellent reviews, also picking up the top award in its category at the 2022 WhatCar? Car of the year awards

4 Series Hatchback

The last piece in the 4 Series trifecta is the hatchback model, which boasts an incredible amount of interior space and storage for a car that offers such an exciting driving experience when you're behind the wheel.

The 4 Series Hatchback, referenced as the 4 Series Gran Coupe by BMW, features 5 full-size seats that make group trips far more comfortable than you'd find in the smaller saloon model and an infotainment system that'll keep all passengers entertained as you’re travelling.

Whether it's a short trip or a long haul drive, you're guaranteed to arrive in style in the 4 Series Hatchback.

5 Series Saloon

Much like with many of the previous models that we've covered, the 5 Series is available in either a saloon or estate car build.

If you're looking for something more aerodynamic yet still incredibly comfortable and spacious, the Saloon is a fantastic choice.

The refined athletic appearance gives the 5 Series an aesthetic that's hard to beat and when you pair this with the power under the bonnet, it's a force to be reckoned with.

In our opinion, the 5 Series Saloon is a car that's at home when used for business or pleasure, providing a smooth and comfortable ride feel with the option to ramp up the performance whenever you desire.

5 Series Estate

BMW describe the 5 Series Estate as a pioneering vehicle in the "New Class", a range of vehicles that utilise practical modern design without sacrificing any of the features that you'd expect to find in a luxury car.

Having been on the market since 1972, the 5 Series is one of the manufacturer's leading models and it's loved by drivers the world over.

The modern iteration is a technological marvel from the first even 5 Series models, but that doesn't mean that it has lost any of that initial spark that made the 5 Series so special all those years ago.

Check out our best BMW 5 Series Estate lease deals to find out just how good this car is...

8 Series Coupe

Make no mistake, the BMW 8 Series Coupe is a complete powerhouse.

Combining the manufacturer's statement luxury designs with the might of their racing heritage, the 8 Series is a car crafted to offer elite-level performance.

The BMW 8 Series is the first car to be developed by both the BMW M Motorsport engineers and the production engineers and it's easy to see the difference that this input has made - it's a luxurious driving experience that'll leave you lost for words.

As the successor to the immensely popular 6 Series, the 8 Series had huge shoes to fill, but it's fair to say that it's exceeded expectations tenfold so far.

Click here to learn more about the 8 Series Coupe and find a lease deal that suits your budget!

8 Series Convertible

The 8 Series convertible takes the excellent 8 Series and takes it to the next level.

This show-stopping convertible has a serious attitude and the performance to back it up too - if you want to be the one turning heads as you burst down the streets, the convertible version of the BMW 8 Series is one of our top picks.

On the outside, it looks superb. The iconic glow of the headlights remains, as is a staple in modern BMW design, and is complemented by stunning 20" M light alloy wheels in a jet black colour, adding an urban, sporty feel to the car.

The soft-top roof can also be customised to suit your tastes, with a range of colour options available including:

On the inside, it's that same high-quality finish that you've come to expect from a top-of-the-range BMW. There's industry-leading technology, maximum comfort, and a driving experience that's simply unrivalled.

Z4 Convertible

Every motoring enthusiast has fallen in love with the BMW Z4.

It's an icon in the industry and is widely regarded as one of the standout roadsters of all time.

BMW's modern take on the Z4 is somewhat more sophisticated than the original design that was launched all those years ago - the new Z4 Convertible is a refined, innovative car that can only be described as a true automotive masterpiece

Today's Z4 Roadster is built on the principles that drive any leading sports car - a differential that optimises traction and stability, a braking system that rivals the best in the business, and variable sport steering that keeps things feeling light, agile, and controlled.

But this sportier design doesn't mean that you'll miss out on the home comforts that BMW features in their other ranges.

Inside the Z4 you'll find camera-based driving assistant systems including a parking assist, the new BMW Head-Up Display, and BMW Operating System 7, which makes it easier than ever to operate the media functions in the car without distracting from the iconic driving experience that the Z4 offers.

The infamous BMW M Range

If you're looking for a car that packs more of a punch, you need to check out the M range.

The BMW M range is the flagship performance range designed by BMW’s performance engineers.

It’s a collection of high-octane vehicles that give drivers a track-inspired experience each time they get behind the wheel.

Every car in the M range is fine-tuned to ensure that it offers the maximum level of performance possible with the chassis, engine, and technology that it’s built with.

The M range can be traced back to 1979 when the timeless BMW M1 first hit the roads. The vehicle was hand built and limited to a limited release of just 460 cars, making it something of a collector’s item in the modern day.

Today, BMW still releases limited edition M models, but the base models are generally far more accessible, meaning you can get your hands on a high-performance powerhouse of a car without the stress.

You can read more about each of the models in the BMW M range below, but if you’d like to get in touch to discuss leasing options for BMW M cars, give us a call today!

 M3 Saloon

The M3 is probably the most iconic car that BMW has ever produced.

It’s been a fan favourite since its release and is still one of the most sought-after cars to the day in all of its iterations from the first generation to the latest release.

Combining powerful proportions and a signature four-door build, the BMW M3 Saloon feels sporty from the moment you open the door

The M3 might look light in appearance, but under the hood there’s an impressive 510 bhp engine and 650 Nm of torque, giving you pure power every time you press the pedal.

The TwinPower Turbo power unit combines with the 8-speed M Steptronic to give rapid acceleration and a breathtaking top speed. You’ll be able to hit 0-60 mph in around 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. The BMW M3 Saloon Competition is a seriously fast vehicle that’s perfect for drivers that love to head out on track days but also have to pick up the kids, head to the shop, and run errands in style.

M4 Coupe

The BMW M4 exists on the boundary where power meets precision, creating a perfectly balanced vehicle that’s destined to leave you gobsmacked.

One of the key features of the M4 is how lightweight it is for a car that produces so much power. The car is built using an innovative mix of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic, resulting in almost 100 kg of weight being shed.

When you’re behind the wheel, this reduction in weight results in massive improvements to performance, particularly when it comes to agility, giving the M4 a more nimble feel as you’re navigating your journeys.

If you want to boost the performance of your BMW M4 Coupe even further, you can opt for the all-wheel drive M xDrive with Active M Differential package, which guarantees maximum driving dynamics both on the track and in everyday use, bringing more character out of that incredibly powerful engine each time you switch it on.

To cap things off, there’s also a convertible option with the M4, giving you the chance to experience high-power performance with the wind in your hair - there’s no feeling quite like it!

M5 Saloon

The M5 is now in its sixth generation of development and has been a favourite amongst motoring enthusiasts for decades already.

The latest generation of the BMW M5 Saloon builds upon the iconic design language that we’re used to seeing from the M range and introduces new eye-catching design elements that elevate the image of the car to suit the modern age.

Of course, the aesthetic is just one small part of what the M5 is all about - the key focus for the vehicle is to produce best-in-class performance, which it does expertly.

Every inch of the M5’s design feels geared towards squeezing as much power, agility, and responsiveness out of the engine and chassis as possible.

The biggest development in the latest generation of the M5 is the lower centre of gravity that’s created by the slightly wider stance - this helps the car to grip the road and makes handling a joy.

And it’s not just the chassis and engine that improve performance, either. The entire cockpit in the M5 feels like it’s been designed for peak performance.

There are new Galvanic controls, a leather steering wheel, and pre-configurable M1 and M2 driver settings to help you set your car up the way you want at the push of a button.

M8 Coupe

No matter whether it’s on the road or the racetrack, the BMW M8 Coupe delivers explosive performance and a luxury driving experience every single time.

This gorgeous 2 door coupe is one of BMW’s most exclusive cars and it’s for the faint of heart - it’s got a 625 bhp M TwinPower Turbo inline 8-cylinder engine that provides ferocious power, which gets you from 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds.

It’s safe to say that the M8 Coupe sets off at lightning-fast speed.

Of course, the M8 isn’t all about speed; it’s a luxury car that’s incredibly sophisticated, with an interior that’s finished to the highest standard utilising durable materials and the latest automotive technology available.

With the integrated M-specific instrument cluster, you’ll be able to display additional information as you drive, giving you more insights into your driving - this is particularly impressive when using the race track-only TRACK driving mode, which gives you an overview of your tyre pressures, boost pressures, and temperatures as you drive.

If you’d like to get behind the wheel of the impressive M8 Coupe, check out the BMW M8 Competition Coupe lease deals right here on the LeaseCar website!

BMW X range lease deals

The BMW X range is built for exploring.

If you’re looking to see the world, adventure to new places, and take the world into your own hands, the X Series range by BMW is built for you - offering uncluttered seating positions, optimal traction, and excellent fuel efficiency, the X range is designed to handle anything life throws at you.

Ranging from the smallest model, the BMW X1 - a compact SUV with excellent connectivity and agile driving - through to the X7 - an elegant SUV with enough space for all the family plus all of your belongings, there’s a car in the X range to suit you.

BMW’s massage for the X range is that it delivers “luxury without limits” and it’s hard to argue with that - each car in this collection gives drivers the robust engineering they need to tackle big climbs, rocky terrain, and everything in between, whilst maintaining the highest levels of comfort at all times.

With the rising popularity of SUVs in recent years, with their ability to offer a fantastic mix of driving excellence and practical utility appealing to a huge number of drivers, it’s great to see a major manufacturer offering so many options in this category.

Whether you’re looking for something a little sportier, something that oozes luxury, or something budget-friendly, there’s something for every type of driver in this BMW X range.

Here are all of the BMW X range models available to lease with LeaseCar:

Electric cars by BMW

Beyond the realms of performance cars for the racetrack and SUVs for tackling the toughest driving challenges, there is another key field where BMW excels when it comes to vehicle production, and it’s a pretty important one too.

With the move to fully electric vehicles becoming more and more common, and with drivers in the UK aware that the 2030 switchover is fast approaching, it’s never been more important for drivers to get to grips with driving an electric car.

But with many drivers seeing their car as much more than just a tool for travel, it’s hard to make that change and step into the unknown.

Or that was the case until BMW entered the electric cars industry and disrupted the industry with its range of leading fully electric cars across a number of the most popular classes.

If you’d like to learn more about electric cars and the importance that they’re going to have over the next couple of years, head over to our electric cars guide right here on the LeaseCar website!

Leasing vs. finance: What’s the best option for you?

Both leasing and finance have become very popular of late, with fewer people choosing to buy their cars outright.

Using finance or leasing as alternatives to securing a new car can have considerable advantages over paying for it upfront, allowing you to split the cost up. However, they’re very different systems.

With a lease, you get all the benefits of owning a brand-new car without the burden of having to pay for the vehicle once the lease has ended. Being able to change to another new car afterwards is another massive benefit, allowing you to keep up to date with modern automobile technology.

At LeaseCar, we’ve supported thousands of people with budgets big and small to upgrade their wheels with a brand-new lease deal. But, that’s not to say we don’t know our stuff when it comes to financing too.

Between leasing and finance, which option you choose will depend on your own personal circumstances - to better help you decide, let’s quickly discuss how each option is different.

How does leasing differ from financing?

It’s important to know the difference between leasing and financing before deciding which option to go for.

With finance, the price of the car is split up into monthly payments instead of one full sum at the start. Most people choose to buy the car at the end of the finance period, often by paying what is known as a ‘balloon payment’.

Another similar option is known as PCP (Personal Contract Purchase). PCP is sometimes classified under the finance system, but it’s slightly different. Instead, you hire the car, paying a balloon payment at the end of the period in order to buy it. You can also choose to give the car back at the end if you don’t want to buy it.

When leasing a car, you also pay a rental fee in a similar way to PCP, but you don’t buy the car at the end of the lease period. Most people choose to lease a new car once their old lease has expired - although, in some situations, you can choose to buy the car instead.

The benefits of leasing a car vs buying or financing

The benefits of leasing a car are numerous, particularly when compared to buying or financing the vehicle.

In this section, we’ll go over some of the main advantages available to you when you choose one of our BMW lease deals.

Manufacturing repairs are included

When you buy a new car outright, you’ll often get a warranty with it. However, the warranty you get may only cover you for a couple of years. If you buy a used car, a warranty often won’t be provided, which can lead to some costly repairs down the line.

When you lease a car from LeaseCar, a warranty is provided every time, covering you for the entire lease period. This means that any manufacturing faults occurring from mechanical failure will be covered during this period, although wear and tear usually isn’t included.

However, you’ll still need to purchase car insurance and pay for maintenance such as services and MOTs. Our Total Care package is also available if you choose to upgrade, with insurance included within the package.

Breakdown cover can usually be purchased from companies like The AA and The RAC - BMW also offer their own roadside assistance service.

A more affordable way to drive a new car

Unlike buying a car outright, leasing is much more affordable. Instead of having to pay the full amount of the vehicle upfront, you can instead pay a cost-effective monthly rental price. This is usually cheaper than the monthly cost of financing a car too.

The down payment/deposit is often cheaper as well, allowing you to go for a premium car like a BMW, instead of resigning yourself to a cheaper model.

The other main benefit of this is that, as soon as your current lease ends, you can immediately start a new lease on another vehicle. This means you can keep up to date with the latest vehicle technology, with all the new features added in.

Say goodbye to tax

Another huge advantage to leasing a car is that, most of the time, you don’t pay VED (Vehicle Excise Tax), commonly referred to as road tax.

VED is a tax on the emissions a vehicle produces - this means that low-emission vehicles will require less tax, and vehicles that produce no emissions don’t pay VED at all.

It’s usually down to the registered keeper to pay the tax for a vehicle each year, but when you lease a car, the leasing company is classed as the owner. Because of this, VED is usually paid by the company lending you the car. This is something you’ll need to double check first, but if the tax is included in your monthly rental, that’s another expense you don’t need to worry about.
