Jeep is a registered trademark of Chrysler and is the oldest off road vehicle ever created. The original prototype of the 4 wheel drive car was created by designer Karl Probst through the American Bantam Car Company and Willys-Overland. The two manufacturing firms had been contacted by the United States army to create a war-worthy vehicle in a challenging 49 day period.
The preliminary model, called the Bantam BRC, was taken for its first test drive in September 1940.
Their range has come a long way since the 1940s, nowadays they offer cars like the Compass, Renegade and the Wrangler.

Jeeps are iconic and instantly recognisable. They’re spacious, versatile and they’re something just that little bit different. Jeeps stand out from the crowd and have head-turning power to rival some super cars.
The new Jeeps are brimming with innovative safety features and handy gadgets. But, just because the Jeep grew up, don’t expect it to leave its off-roading heritage behind it in the dust. Take your Jeep around town to do some shopping in the morning and then head out for some off-road adventures. Take all the family with you as there’s plenty of room inside for passengers. Even if you have your grandparents in the back, you don’t need to worry about keeping to the smoothest roads – the Jeep makes a smooth ride out of any surface.
There’s a Jeep to please everyone. The Wrangler is the most popular, with models including the Limited, Sport (X), Sahara and Rubicon. Don’t miss out on the chance to look at the other Jeeps in the range though. Popular options include the Cherokee, Patriot, Compass and Renegade – each with their own unique character, charm and abilities. All Jeep models are available in a range of colours and there are plenty of unique features and gadgets to choose from.
The Jeep has very few rivals, there’s no other vehicle that can completely top the Jeep. Jeeps have space, manoeuvrability, tarmac grunt, versatility, unrivalled towing power and even cruise at high speeds on the open road without more than a whisper of extra noise. And did we mention just how stylish they look? The only question you should be asking yourself is ‘hard or soft top?’
