The Transporter is Volkswagen's flagship light commercial van, the van is powered by a 2.0 litre turbo powered diesel across all models, but is available in five different tunings; 83 brake horsepower, 100 bhp, 112 bhp, 138 bhp and a powerful 176 bhp. The latter two come with a 6 speed gearbox whilst the others have 5 speed.
As with all new Volkswagens, the optional additions of 4Motion, allowing four wheel driving, and bluemotion technology that can impressively lower emissions and increase mileage. Based on the 112 bhp, bluemotion can increase miles per gallon to 44.8 mpg, compared to the already healthy 37.7 mpg of the 100 bhp, that's an outstanding improvement.
The Transporter comes in three lengths of vehicle and two heights, ranging to give you space of 5.8 - 9.3 m. This can store from 2 to 3 euro pallets depending on size, and with a payload of 740 kg - 1,340 kg can make light work of heavy lifting.
As you'd expect from a Volkswagen, the transport is practical, good to drive and important for those looking at van leasing, holding its price remarkably well.
Volkswagen TransporterThe Volkswagen Transporter is a fantastic van which would suit a variety of purposes. It has a refined and durable TDI engine, making it a comparatively powerful vehicle. The Transporter also has some useful features, this includes:
Altogether, Volkswagen have made a real effort to ensure that their van is easy and comfortable to drive. This is why all the Transporter models come with ESP and ABS anti-lock brakes as standard. There are four Transporter models in the series, each coming with a different Diesel engine specification. This includes:
The most powerful engine in this lineup, the 180PS engine, has a six-speed manual as its main transmission. Like the Caddy, the Transporter is known to be a quiet and efficient car for motorists to drive. If you are interested in more information, here are the specifications:
The Transporter, as the name suggests, is far larger than its Caddy counterpart. Designed primarily to transport heavy cargo, the dimensions of the Transporter certainly reflects this creative intention. It also has the capacity to hold much more cargo, with a significantly larger overall payload volume.
Like the Caddy, the Transporter has similar safety features which come as standard in the Volkswagen vans. You can expect to find airbags for both passengers in the front, in conjunction with ESP and ABS anti-lock brakes too.
The Transporter is a fantastic van to lease for businesses that require spacious interiors and strength. Additionally, even when fully loaded, this van model is still able to drive through bumpy roads and slippery conditions with confidence. For this reason, the Transporter is a great option for businesses who want the reliability of Volkswagen with the strength of a regular ‘camper’ van.
